RDA Team Faced Resistance During Operation

Rawalpindi-The Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) team faced resistance from owner, armed guards and employees of an illegal housing society at Chakri on Saturday when it went to bulldoze its offices along with police team.

The team of Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) of RDA, led by Deputy Director Sami Ullah Khan Niazi, conducted an operation against illegal Housing Society after a court of law cancelled a stay order obtained by the owner of the housing society. Also RDA had declared the said Housing Society as illegal. When the team tried to remove the society’s gates, offices and bill-boards, owner along with his armed guards and employees stopped them and forced the team to go back.

The owner of illegal housing society allegedly abused the high-ups of RDA and threatened them of dire consequences. The employees and armed guards also chanted slogans against RDA officers and the policemen.

Meanwhile, the RDA officer had filed a complaint with police seeking legal action against the accused. A police spokesman confirmed to the media that an investigation had been launched into the matter after RDA submitted a complaint with police. He said police would arrest the accused after filing First Information Report (FIR) against them.

Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Director Jamshaid Aftab said RDA would continue operation against illegal housing societies. RDA spokesperson Hafiz Mohammad Irfan told that the team had demolished two site offices and other illegal billboards of an illegal housing society.
